
Current Issues in Service Management: Tourism (15 credits) The first course of the programme gives a broad overview of the tourism sector, its' development, structure and different set of relations working within the sector and in relation to other parts of society. These issues are discussed and analyzed in a wider context of nationally and internationally important structural changes in society.
Theory of Science/Methodology (15 credits):
The course will provide the students with the theoretical and practical knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methods in order to undertake advanced academic research.
Strategic Management in Tourism (15 credits)
The objective of the course is to provide students with knowledge in strategic areas of back-office operations. Students are presented to the theoretical foundations and “toolbox” of strategic planning, revenue management, quality control and change management. The course also offers insights into European legislative aspects of tourism operations.
Theory of Science/Methodology in Service Management (15 credits)
The course will provide the students with the theoretical and practical knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methods in order to undertake advanced academic research.
Value creating processes in Tourism (30 credits)
The course will provide the students with a good understanding of the specific conditions of tourism development and innovation. With in-depth discussions and investigations of the theoretical issues of value creation, sustainability and mobility, combined with the practical works of participating in a local and/or regional collaborative tourist project, the course will provide skills in research as well as consultancy practices. The students will work in close collaboration with various stakeholders around a chosen topic. The course will result in a thesis that exhibits academic research skills as well as managerial applications.
