Please note that changes can be made before the start of the Autumn semester 2021. An updated reading list for Autumn 2021 will be published two months before the start of the course.
In this course we discuss the human practices of economic exchange. Markets are seen as human phenomena. The focus will therefore be on for example how markets are organized and how the economy (resource management) can be seen as a social, political, and cultural phenomena as well as how the economy and society are interrelated. Social sciences studies of markets (market studies) is an interdisciplinary research area that approaches the economy from the point of view of economic social and everyday life. Accordingly, markets are understood as actively created and organised forms of exchange which can be explained in relation to the social, cultural, material and historical contexts of individuals and groups
